This is down near where I used to live in New Westminster, not far from the park mentioned in the previous post. Along the river I saw this heron looking for food.

I was lucky enough to have my long lens with me. He/she ignored the people walking on the boardwalk above for the most part anyhow.

So this isn't from my phone - but its more or less unadjusted. I have a lens called a lensbaby - this allows you to adjust where the photo is in focus and the rest gets kind of blurred. Can get kind of a dream like quality from it.

New Card Reader

I needed an SD card reader to carry around with me. I found this online and thought it was great - it can read and type of Sony Memory stick and any type of SD/MMC card - especially important is that it has a microSD slot which is what my Samsung Jack uses.

New Phone!

So I got a new phone. A Samsung Jack - which is a Windows Mobile PDA/Phone. Its got the same resolution camera as the Sony. However it appears to have a few extra features - namely effects - so here's my work keyboard in Negative (and as this was an effect built in the picture is still Unadjusted).

The Game!

Went to a pre-season BC Lions game with my girlfriend's dad. Had a good time and the game was much better than I expected. BC won 39-35 over Calgary.

We had "Bronze" level seats reserved but when we went to pick up our tickets we were informed that they had run out of bronze tickets - so we were freely upgraded to Silver level. Not a bad deal at all.

I thought I'd show the difference between my cameras (well phone and camera) - these 2 pictures were taken from the same spot - 1 with my Sony w810 phone and one with my Canon Digital Rebel with my 70-300 lens. Both of these are in their original "resolution" so click em to see them big (1632x1224 for the phone) and VERY big (3072x2048 for the Rebel).

And in keeping with the unadjusted theme, neither has been touched up (the Rebel picture has been saved as a .JPG though I shoot in RAW format).

A few weeks back Michelle and I walked down to the Quay for lunch. While she was off at the Greek place getting food I was waiting for a nice sausage and plate of perogies at the meat/East European place. I snapped this picture because I've never really seen haggis (in case you can't see in the picture) sold in a store before. They were quite large, about the size of a cabbage.

Michelle and I are moving into a new place in New Westminster. We spent the night there last night and had (part of a) dinner there. Here is what we ordered - the Anniversary special (the restaurants anniversary, not ours). Our first dinner in the new apartment!

Click for full completely unadjusted pic. Kept this one full size because I really like it. Got on the train at the first stop (King George) one morning and got the best seat in the house - looking out the front (well really back) window. You can see the next train getting ready to switch directions. Mornings when I can get a seat like this are great - put on the mp3 player and just enjoy the ride.

Back in September my friends Glenn and Dave P. came for a visit. They are both photographers so a lot of time was spent playing the xbox. I mean, a lot of time was spent taking pictures. The three of us went to White Rock - unfortunately my batteries for my Digital Rebel expired as I had forgot to charge them. Glenn and I had already been down to White Rock earlier in his visit so I was content to watch the two professionals at work (and sit back and enjoy the scenery).

I took this yesterday afternoon through the window in the cubicle behind me. The building looks so unreal to me. I am quite pleased that my little phone was actually able to capture it. I plan on touching up the photo (not for this blog obviously) to take out some of the reflection from the window (the orangey-red mark at the top is from the little mirror on my cameraphone).

A few weeks back Michelle bought her own Xbox. Halo edition, I am so jealous. It looks amazing in person - the orange mirrored bits are really nice and the rest has a cool military feel to it. The Xbox came with a matching controller and headset. Lucky girl. She's quite taken with a few games - namely Carcassonne, UNO and Viva Pinata.

Back in May I was in Victoria visiting my friends Byron and Melissa. We had a picnic out one night, stopping to get fish & chips from a great little place that I don't remember the name of. Ok, this is a bit of a cheat, as far as this blog goes. However it does still fit in with the unadjusted theme. Instead of my phone (Sony Ericsson w810) this picture was taken with a "real" digital camera - but its not my Rebel Digital SLR, but my old camera the PowerShot S200 Digital Elph - which is the same resolution as my cameraphone. Anyhow I thought this sign was amusing.

I haven't posted in a while but that's because I haven't taken any pictures. However, on my way to/from lunch I noticed a lot of commotion across the street. I'll have to go back later (after work perhaps) to take a few more pictures but it appears they are going to be doing some filming across the street.

Here's a couple far away pictures I took - 1 of the catering bus (Geoff the Chef) and 2 of some guys hanging a black drop cloth and a bunch of other stuff that's not normally around this building.

Along the highway in Surrey there is a corner with this house that's had a fire recently and looks gutted. I happend to look down the driveway beside the house and was greeted by this lovely barn out behind it.

I was having dinner with a friend last night at Metrotown mall. We haven't seen each other in a while so we decided to walk around the mall and talk for a while before he had to head back to his hotel. He went into a store to look for something for his wife and I spotted the Disney store across the courtyard. I thought the entrance to it was cool, so I took a pic.

Then I looked down to the floor below. This is what I saw at Purdy's (a chocolate shop) below me. Just a few last minute Valentine's shoppers.

So I was downtown Vancouver Wednesday night and I saw this wonderful display of gingerbread in the Hyatt lobby. The little city was built by some students at a school. Not sure who made the giant gingerbread man (seriously like 25 feet tall) but he was there too.

Every once in a while the clouds lift enough to be able to see the mountains. It's a nice change, and I am still struck by how amazing they look. So much different from the other places I've lived before. Unfortunately, the cameraphone really doesn't do them much justice, but you get a hint of how amazing they are.

Wednesday night shopping

I went shopping with a friend Wednesday night. I wasn't looking to buy anything (and I didn't) but I am trying to get my bearings around here a bit better. Anyhow we went to this unusual mall, that had this HUGE furniture store in it. I've never seen such an odd collection of objects in a furniture store - lots of $900 statues of Hindu gods and weird clocks and all kinds of stuff. I liked these bronze (looking) clocks. The whole clock swung back and forth on the angels hand. I wanted to get some more pictures of some of the other unusual things, but the salesmen were always lurking about. I'll have to go back and take a picture of the wine rack shaped like a 6 ft tall wine bottle, the life size statue of a WW2 fighter pilot and the like.

Oh, and I guess I made 2 "alterations" to this picture, size and rotation, but I figure as long as an advanced editing tool isn't used it still falls under my "rules" for this blog.

Of all the interesting things I did today (going to a Ukelele concert, dinner out, visitng family) this is what I am choosing to put a picture up of. While visiting my Aunt and Uncle I mentioned I didn't really have any Christmas decorations, and yet I will be hosting the family Christmas dinner this year. This prompted my Aunt to go retrieve several decorations that she wasn't using. Included was this charming piece which my Uncle suggested accidentally get broken, but for some reason I think it's fantastic. It is supposed to light up as you can see but the tiny light inside wasn't working, so I did a little surgery when I got home and replaced it with another light I had that fits inside neatly.

Found myself out in Surrey today at a mall out there. They had this really high ceiling and the whole canvas and wood thing going on up there. I thought it looked neat unfortunately it was a bit too dark for my camera. Still the mall was cool (T&T Supermarkets ROCK!) and I had a great time.

Monkey Party, Tortured Mannequins

I was sitting at a stoplight by this shop after picking up my car at lunch time, on my way back to the office. I wish I had time to get out and get a better picture but I left this one full size so you can get a better look. A somewhat disturbing scene from the erotic sensations shop - all the mannequins had no hands. This was right downtown Langley too.

Not really sure why I made a little hat out of foil and stuck in on my little monkey, but there you go. It's interesting at least no? The stacks of pennies behind the monkeys show the scale of them. I bought them a long time ago from this little shop in Victoria's Chinatown on Fan Tan Alley. Quite the place, all kinds of interesting objects. Haven't been there in a long time.

I went out to Tsawwassen last weekend to give a friend a ride to the ferry. I took this looking out towards the docks. I'm trying to get motivated take more pictures, and since I have this handy dandy camera phone I'd ideally like to update here every day. I'm saving my other blog for photomanipulation and explanation of some of my deviant art pieces. This is more of just a general "what's up" blog with whatever I think is the best photo I took for the day. I'll do my best not to manipulate the photos other than for overall size.
